10 minutes to establish:
1-rep-max hang power clean
Order: All together
Time cap: 10 minutes
The team has 10 minutes to establish each athlete’s 1-rep-max hang power clean.
At the call of "3, 2, 1 ... go," the team may load the two empty barbells for the first lifters (one male and one female). Prior to each lift, the performing athlete must face the camera and state the weight they are about to attempt. The athlete may then proceed with their hang power clean attempt. Only one athlete can work at a time. Each athlete may make multiple attempts. However, all four teammates must establish their 1-rep max within the same 10-minute period.
Note: The minimum weight change is 5 lb.; no fractional plates are allowed. Clips must be used.
The team’s score is the sum of the four athletes’ heaviest lifts.
For each workout, be sure the team has adequate space to safely complete the workout. Clear the area of all extra equipment, people or other obstructions. Any team who in any way alters the equipment or movements described in this document or shown in the workout standards video may be disqualified from the competition.
Standard bumper plates and change plates (not less than 2.5 lb.)
Video Submission Standards
Prior to starting, film the barbells and plates to be used so the loads can be seen clearly. All video submissions must be uncut and unedited in order to accurately display the performance. An additional person with a stopwatch should be in the frame throughout the entire workout. Shoot the video from an angle so all exercises can be clearly seen meeting the movement standards.
1 of 2Each repetition must start from the hang. Therefore, each repetition must be taken from the floor to a deadlift lockout (hips and knees fully extended, and head and shoulders behind the bar) before re-dipping to initiate the hang clean. Once the bar has been deadlifted, re-dipping below the top of the knee is not permitted. A hang squat clean is not permitted. The athlete must receive the barbell in a power position, with the crease of the hip above the top of the knee. Each repetition finishes with the bar racked on the shoulders and the elbows clearly in front of the bar with the hips and knees fully extended. Power cleaning the barbell from the ground in one continuous motion is not permitted. Men must use the men’s bar and women must use the women’s bar.2 of 2Hang Power Clean Finish Position
