“Resurgence” documents the dramatic shake-up of the CrossFit Games amid a global pandemic and the unprecedented challenges associated with it.

The CrossFit Games represent the most definitive test of fitness in the world, taking place every year to crown the official Fittest Man and Woman on Earth. To be called the Fittest on Earth, one has to be capable of conquering a number of physical and mental challenges. In 2020, those challenges were plentiful. "Resurgence" captures all the drama as CrossFit pivots to pull off an in-person event amid a global pandemic. After developing a new competition format to narrow its largest field of athletes yet, the sport's top five women and top five men are invited to the historic CrossFit Ranch in Aromas, California. There, in an already difficult year, the athletes take on some of the hardest tests CrossFit has concocted, facing whatever is necessary to be crowned the Fittest on Earth.
