The 2020 CrossFit Games Finals took place Oct. 23-25 in Northern California at the historic Ranch and the Morgan Hill Sports Complex. The top five men and women who emerged from Stage 1 gathered to compete for the title Fittest on Earth. 

Watch the fifth event of this year's finals: Ranch Loop. It wouldn't seem right to compete at the Ranch without a beastly trail run. In Ranch Loop, athletes were tasked with a 3±-mile run across varying terrain — that ± caveat proved a subtle hint at things to come.

As event leaders Mat Fraser and Justin Medeiros raced to the perceived event finish, Director of Sport Dave Castro dropped the surprise that they had only reached the halfway point — "Turn around and run the course in reverse. I'm not kidding," Castro said. Suddenly, the test was just as much mental as it was physical.
