How does Scoring work for the 2020 CrossFit Games?
Points Will Reset to Zero Before the Finals
See the scoring table below to learn about the 2020 scoring system. Each event has a point value assigned to it. The top five men and women who will compete in Aromas will have their points reset before the start of the in-person finals (Stage 2).
For each rank on a workout, CrossFit assigns a certain number of points (ex. first place = 100 pts., second place = 95 pts.) The athlete with the most points at the end of the Games is the winner.
There are two points tables for the 2020 CrossFit Games. Each table is tailored to the number of competitors present. For Stage 2, last place (fifth place) can earn 15 points or zero points. If it is determined that an athlete is no longer providing their best effort to complete an event, the competition team may award them zero points for their last-place finish rather than 15.
How to Read the Leaderboard
Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the 2020 CrossFit Games Will be Combined Onto a Single 2020 Games Leaderboard
The Stage 1 events will be contained in workout columns 1 - 7.
In order to preserve the First - 30th-place finish order in Stage 1, we have added a ‘Stage 1 Points’ column (Column 8). Column 8 contains the sum of the points awarded to the athletes on Events 1 - 7. Sort by ‘Stage 1 Points’ (Column 8) in order to see the overall ranks of the top 30 athletes in Stage 1 of the CrossFit Games.
The Finals: Stage 2
The Stage 2 Events Will be Contained in Columns 9+
For the second and final stage of the Games, the slate is wiped clean and points are reset for the top five athletes. The athletes will start with a point total of zero, and have to distinguish themselves from their peers during the events in Northern California. The sum of each athlete’s points earned on Stage 2 events (Columns 9+) will be shown in the ‘Stage 2 Points’ column to the right of the athlete’s name. Sort by ‘overall’ to see the top five athletes’ overall ranks in Stage 2.
The sixth to 30th-ranked athletes will remain on the leaderboard, but since they are no longer competing they will receive double dashes (--) instead of a rank, score, and points.
