On Aug. 3, 2018, military and first responders receive free Games admission.

On Aug. 3, 2018, active, reserve and retired members of the military, with a valid ID, will be granted free Festival access to the CrossFit Games. Fire, police and EMT personnel, with a valid ID, will be granted Festival access as well. Interested parties should present their IDs at will call to receive free admission.

Additionally, there will be a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter flyover at the Alliant Energy Center on Aug. 1 at approximately 10:15 a.m. Members of the U.S. Marine Corps will present the National Anthem and Color Guard prior to the start of competition.

The 115th Air National Guard, based in Madison, Wisconsin, will have two F-15s fly over the Alliant Energy Center on Aug. 4 at approximately 12 p.m. as well.

CrossFit has long been associated with military and law enforcement. In a 2003 CrossFit Journal article titled “Police Training,” CrossFit Founder Greg Glassman says, “It is CrossFit’s contention that cops and soldiers are professional athletes. In fact, we argue that the physical preparedness required of military combat—and by extension law enforcement—matches and regularly surpasses that required of Olympic athletes.”

The CrossFit Games will be held Aug. 1-5, 2018, at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin. For more information about the CrossFit Games, check out the on-site info page.
