What’s New in the 2024 CrossFit Open With Adrian Bozman

“No, we're not going to do an equipment list this year. But I will say and I think I already have made it pretty clear that, like, we are very committed to using an equipment profile, that's, you know, it's pretty vanilla.”

CrossFit Competition Director Adrian Bozman joins host Chase Ingraham on today’s episode to discuss all things 2024 CrossFit Open, including simple changes to past requirements, balancing programming, and regional exemptions.

The CrossFit Open began in 2011. It was CrossFit’s first online competition. Since then, the first stage of the CrossFit Games season has evolved into a three-week global competition, uniting hundreds of thousands of people for fun and friendly competition.

In today’s episode, Boz shares changes to the 2024 Open, highlighting easier-to-read scorecards, the elimination of rigid floor plans, and easier access to equipment. He also describes the challenges and nuances of balancing the programming for the Quarterfinals stage, and the differences between advancing your fitness and testing your fitness.

For those applying for regional exemptions ahead of the start of the Open, Boz explains the qualification process at length and urges athletes to apply before the deadline — Feb. 1.

Tune in to hear why Boz is excited for the 2024 season, why the Open will be more accessible than ever, and why there will not be an equipment list for this year’s competition.
