At Kaizen CrossFit in Las Vegas, members aren’t called members—they’re students.
“You’re learning how to move, you’re learning how to excel, so you’re actually a student of … life, of movement,” says co-owner James Stella.
The affiliate started in a park with six members. Today it has 155 members who train in a space that’s slightly more than 3,000 square feet.
“The growth’s been phenomenal with basically just word of mouth,” Stella says.
John Zachary, a 68-year-old student at Kaizen CrossFit, was a gymnast in high school and spent 12 years as a triathlete. Now, he says, he’s got his muscles back.
“It’s been a fabulous year for me,” Zachary says. “It’s been actually my best year of fitness as far as new stuff and having a great time.”
