Started doing a CrossFit style workout 2 years ago in half of one of the warehouses my family owns. Got a few friends started with me, grew to the point we took over a whole 2000 sq ft warehouse. By the end of the first year, we had 30 people working out with us. Got our affiliation as Eisen Haus CrossFit in May of 2017. Got way too big for a dude working full time to run, so I sold it to one of the original members, and we're over 70 people now. Hoping to top 100 this year. CrossFit has changed my life from a dude that was too fat to tie his boots, to 72nd in the South East as of 18.3... Not making the games, or even regionals, but it's a long way from not tying your boots.
