I have grown up and still live in El Dorado Hills. I graduated from Oak Ridge in 1995 and went on to finish my undergrad at UCLA and my teaching credential and Masters at UC Davis. I currently am a Physical Education teacher at Vista del Lago high school in Folsom and have incorporated CrossFit into my classes. I have played all kinds of sports but I mainly focused on soccer and wrestling. After getting overweight and out of shape, I started doing half ironman triathlons with a group of friends. The weekend training rides and runs with the swimming and workouts during the week were the support and structure that I needed to stay on track. After a while though I started losing interest in just swimming, biking and running and I wanted to get stronger. The Wednesday after I completed Levi’s Gran Fondo (a 105 mile road ride), I went into El Dorado Hills CrossFit and did my first workout. I was hooked and loved the coaching, camaraderie, and the constantly varied workouts. One of the things about CrossFit that is unique is the holistic approach to fitness which includes nutrition, metabolic conditioning, gymnastics, weightlifting/throwing and sport. Through improving in all of these different areas, I am stronger and healthier now than I have ever been. The more I delved into the CrossFit journal and researched the methodology and efficacy of the program I became convinced that the physical education programs at our schools would benefit from using CrossFit. I became a CrossFit Level 1 and CrossFit Kids trainer and I have created a CrossFit course that was approved by Folsom Cordova USD and I will be teaching the first CrossFit class at Vista del Lago next term. Regardless if it is teaching students or coaching adults, CrossFit is an excellent pathway for moving people along the wellness spectrum towards fitness. I look forward to coaching you at El Dorado Hills CrossFit and helping you to achieve your goals.
