Grew up playing competitive sports ranging from hockey, soccer, basketball, badminton, ultimate frisbee, and track and field. Shifted focus to soccer in later teen years playing at the national level. Following university and college had a competitive void with sports and found CrossFit as a way to fill that void.
In 2014 Searched for the best CrossFit athletes in my area through the CrossFit Games leaderboard and came across Joe Johnson (local legend and regional athlete) and CrossFit Resurrection so I headed there and signed up. The pain and suffering hurt so good and I was hooked; the rest is history.
A few opens, a couple regionals, a dabble in sectionals, and a poke at the CrossFit Games!
Balancing competitive CrossFit and full time employment as a paramedic is challenging at times but prepares you both mentally and physically for the challenges you face on the job and on the competition floor. A busy work schedule along with a heavy training program mixed with shift work makes thing interesting but with a great support team headed by my fiancé makes things manageable. Having someone at home who is also a first responder and understands the struggles of balancing the demands of training at this level makes things doable.
