I am just a woman who wants to be fit. I want to be confident in my strength and abilities. I have been ‘athletic’ my entire life. – Most of it spent riding and training horses in Maine, Colorado and in the DC Metro area. If it’s outdoorsy, athletic and risky I have probably done it. I started snowboarding and rock climbing in 2005 - I have lead both sport and trad climbing. I started Kite boarding and playing on a recreational co-ed soccer team in 2010. I have been running for a long time, but started taking it more seriously in 2009 when I started competing in the Merrel Down and Dirty race series in NY. – I have placed 3rd in my age group every year. A year ago I was turned on to CrossFit while training for my first Tough Mudder race in 2011. After 6 months I was in the best shape I had ever been in and placed in the top 5%. I raced with my big brother Tom and in December 2012 I went to his residing state of Florida for our second Tough Mudder event. These races consist of 10-12 miles of terrain filled with British Special Forces designed obstacles. We are signed up for our third Tough Mudder for June 2013. I love CrossFit because it prepares me for just about anything. I am competing in the 2013 CorssFit Open for the first time this year and hope to gain experience for the years to come.
