I recently became conscious of the lack of presence and connection I had with my own life, and one of the several changes that I made to increase presence was to join CrossFit, and now I have signed up for the CrossFit Games. I do not do this to "compete"; I joined simply to perform and to serve as both a recipient and a provider of support and camaraderie from my local box CrossFit Tri-County. We're all in this together, from the least fit member to the CrossFit Games champion, and that is a metaphor for life. I choose to be engaged, to be present and simply to be what I am and what I can be. Joining the Games is an exercise not in winning or defeating a competitor but merely in being what I want to be: someone better than I was yesterday.
