One piece of special Games equipment made the transatlantic trip to the CrossFit Invitational.
Event 5 of the CrossFit Invitational was released at Templehoff Airport during a rehearsal for the live competition that takes place Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. CEST (10 a.m. PT). Several movements seen at the CrossFit Games are on the agenda, and one piece of special Games equipment made the transatlantic trip.
In the final event, all six athletes will complete the following:
100-foot handstand walk
20 Worm thrusters at three different stations
100-foot overhead fat-bar walking lunges (165/100 lb.)
The handstand walks and lunges do not have to be in unison, but athletes will work in a single-file line and cannot pass each other. The thrusters involve the Worm, a segmented log joined by lengths of rope. The Worm, last seen at the CrossFit Games, weighs 405 lb. in total, with each 24-inch segment slightly different in weight: 80, 65, 75, 60, 70 and 55 lb. Athletes will have to reach full depth in a squat as a team before standing up and switching the log to the opposite shoulder. Full lockout of the arms is not required.
Also of note, some weights in Event 2/3 have changed, and a few new details were released. The workout is now:
15 Dumbbell burpee box-overs (70/50 lb., in unison)
30 pairs deadlifts (585/405 lb.; two athletes on a single bar, with the third rotating in)
30 overhead squats (225/135 lb.; each athlete can do 10 reps max per set, and each must do at least one rep per set; transitions permitted in the air)
15 muscle-ups each (not in unison)
The competition will take place at 7 p.m. CEST (10 a.m. PT) on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Tempelhoff Airport in Berlin. The competition will be broadcast live on Eurosport, and fans will also be able to watch the event live at Games.CrossFit.com.
