The results are in, and two five-time reigning champions — the Fittest Woman on Earth and the Fittest Man in Latvia — took home the win for Open Workout 22.2.

The second workout of the 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Open was a couplet of deadlifts and burpees over the bar. Easy enough — but there was a catch. Athletes had only 10 minutes to ascend the ladder from 1 rep to 10 and then descend back to 1.

The women showed their strength during Week 2. The top three women on the worldwide leaderboard — Toomey, Mallory O’Brien, and Carolyne Prevost — finished faster than all athletes, male or female.

In this up-and-down ladder, it was a race to the bottom between Toomey and 18-year-old O’Brien. The 22.1 winner finished a mere four seconds behind Toomey and seems determined to snatch the first-place position on the leaderboard by the close of the Open.

Women: Tia-Clair Toomey

The Fittest Woman on Earth is back to claim her crown. Despite a three-month pause from CrossFit training, Toomey is soaring back to her usual spot — the top of the leaderboard.

The five-time champion sped through the couplet of burpees and deadlifts in 7:05, almost three minutes before the short 10-minute time cap. That means Toomey averaged a rep every 2.13 seconds. She also logged a score 15 seconds faster than the fastest man, Upenieks.

This win marks Toomey’s third career Open win, a great start to her 2022 Games season.

Men: Uldis Upenieks

Two-time Games athlete (2019, 2021) Uldis Upenieks has been the reigning national champion for Latvia since 2017.

Upenieks posted an impressive time of 7:20, earning the first Open workout win of his career.

With the performance came an incredible jump on the leaderboard this week. Upenieks finished 603rd in 22.1, but his first-place finish in 22.2 bumped him up to 182nd.

Toomey and Upenieks will each be awarded $2,022.00 for their performances in 22.2.

We are in the final stretch of the 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Open. Workout 22.3 was released on Thursday, March 10, when two teams — CrossFit Reykjavík and CrossFit Hendersonville — set the time to beat live from CrossFit Hendersonville in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

Keep an eye on the leaderboard this week to see who will win the 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Open.
