The 2021 CrossFit Games Open is 100 days away.
Each year, hundreds of thousands of CrossFit athletes at every level take part in one workout each week for the duration of the competition in the world’s largest participatory sporting event. The Open is designed to be accessible to everyone from beginners to professionals across all ages, backgrounds, and levels of fitness.
The Open is a community event that takes place in thousands of affiliates in most of the 155 countries that have CrossFit gyms. It also serves as the global entry point in qualifying for the CrossFit Games.
So whether you want to have fun with your community, challenge yourself to try something new, or forge elite fitness in a bid to become the Fittest on Earth, the Open has something for you. Anyone who is at least 14 years old can sign up and join in the first stage of the CrossFit Games season.
Last Year
Hundreds of thousands participated in the global competition in a format that challenges and celebrates those aspiring to stay active, improve their fitness, and spend quality time with friends and loved ones.

This Year
The Open is the first step on the road to the CrossFit Games, the ultimate proving grounds for the Fittest on Earth. Changes in the season structure are on the horizon (more to come at a later date).
In late August, CrossFit CEO Eric Roza spoke about the Open in this video, and he has big aspirations for the CrossFit community.
“The CrossFit Open is already the biggest participatory sporting event in the world, but in 2021 we want to raise the bar even higher by getting more than half a million CrossFit athletes worldwide to take part,” Roza said. “I know Dave Castro has some of his regular magic on tap to make the Open not only challenging, but even more accessible to people who are earlier into their CrossFit journey.”
