The CrossFit Games introduced an age division in 2010: 50+.
In the years since then, organizers have cut the field into smaller and smaller age groups. Now, in 2016, there are two Teenage and five Masters age groups (14-15, 16-17, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+).
Immediately after the announcement of the third workout of the 2016 Reebok CrossFit Games Open from CrossFit JAX in Jacksonville, Florida, there will be a clash between champions Shawn Ramirez, 41, and Nicholas Paladino, 17.
Although 24 years separate the two athletes, they should be closely matched. In last year’s Open, Ramirez cleaned and jerked 280 lb. to Paladino’s 260 lb. At the Games, Ramirez finished Amanda in 6:07 to Paladino’s 5:32.
Will 16.3 fall to the Master or the Teenager?
