The Athlete Experience, in Their Own Words — Day 1

August 16, 2021

What better way to understand the magnitude of the CrossFit Games tests than through the athletes themselves?

The 2021 NOBULL CrossFit Games were the ultimate proving grounds for the fittest athletes on Earth. Dave Castro searched for weaknesses in the athletes across a range of carefully designed tests. Those who had done their homework over the past year were richly rewarded.

We experienced the highs of competition, such as Annie Thorisdottir’s stunned face when she raised 200 lb. over her head just months after giving birth. We shared the lows, such as when athletes struggled to navigate the handstand walking course. But, we could, for the most part, only guess what was going through the athletes’ heads while they tackled the most demanding workouts in the sport.

Thankfully, in the week following the competition, many of the athletes gave us a window into their thoughts. What better way to understand the magnitude of these tests than through the athletes themselves?
