Each athlete performs 45 pull-ups and 45 thrusters.
The 2014 Reebok CrossFit Invitational, presented by HGST, is less than two weeks away. Top athletes from Europe, Australia, Canada and the USA will compete for country and continent from 4-6 p.m. PT on Sunday, Nov. 9.
Earlier this week, we released two of the events—a 1-rep-max snatch, and a 1-rep-max clean and jerk. Now we're going to release another.
The first event of the CrossFit Invitational will be a relay.
Each athlete performs as a relay:
45 thrusters (95 lb. / 65 lb.)
The first woman will do 45 pull-ups before advancing to the 65-lb. barbell where she will do 45 thrusters. When she reaches the finish line, a male teammate will enter the competition floor and complete 45 pull-ups and 45 95-lb. thrusters. The order for this relay is female, male, female, male.
The time stops when the final man crosses the finish line.
The CrossFit Invitational is a rare opportunity to watch five CrossFit Games champions, and some of the hottest prospects in the sport compete. Rich Froning, Camille Leblanc-Bazinet, Sam Briggs, Annie Thorisdottir, and Jason Khalipa will all be in San Jose, California.
