Which team will be able to lift big?

The 2014 Reebok CrossFit Invitational, presented by HGST, is fast approaching.

On Nov. 9, four all-star teams from Europe, Australia, Canada and the USA will compete in the fast-paced, two-hour competition. Fans from around the world will gather at the SAP Center in San Jose, California, to watch the best athletes in the sport. With tickets on sale now, you still have a chance to watch it live.

Until now, none of the events have been released.

The first announced events of the Invitational will be a 1-rep-max snatch, and a 1-rep-max clean and jerk. Teams will elect one man and one woman to compete in each lift. Their heaviest lifts will be combined to determine their overall event score.

For example, Canada could have Michele Letendre and Paul Tremblay snatch, and Camille Leblanc-Bazinet and Lucas Parker clean and jerk.

Letendre: 185 lb. snatch
Tremblay: 280 lb. snatch
Snatch Total score: 465 lb.

Leblanc-Bazinet: 238 lb. clean and jerk
Parker: 355 lb. clean and jerk
C&J Total score: 593 lb.

We've pulled stats from the 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games Clean and Jerk event, 2014 Regional Event 1—hang squat snatch—Games-site athlete profiles and social media posts in order to figure out which teams will likely excel.

In the table below, you can find each athlete's one-rep maxes as well as each team's event totals based on hypothetical pairings.

Canada should be a powerhouse in both of these events. Canada and the USA are the favorites to win the snatch event, while Canada and Australia may fight for the win on the clean and jerk.

Of course, how this event plays out depends on each team's strategy, and how well the athletes perform on game day. Some of the record lifts were set in 2013, and may be outdated now that we're on the cusp of 2015. If you’ve seen the athletes set new personal records, include a link to the video in the comments and we’ll update the table.
