In 2010, Dave Castro spent some time with Dave Lipson, Rob Orlando, and Dave Millar as part of the California Road Trip series, featured in the CrossFit Journal. All three athletes have experience in the Games. Lipson competed in the CrossFit Games in 2008 and 2009. Orlando came in 22nd in 2009 and 15th in 2010. Dave Millar finished in 9th in 2009.

Castro raised the issue of body types and performance. Different types of programming favor different body types. If mostly larger guys are in the top 5, it could be because the programming was skewed in their favor. On the other hand, if guys like Chris Spealler and Russell Berger are all at the top, then it's possible that the Games' programming was skewed in the other direction.

Orlando then asked Castro if any strongman implements would be featured in 2011. Dave replied with what could be the CrossFit Games' motto: "Anything's possible."
