I am an affiliate owner and coach. I decided to do the open last minute this year because I was recently diagnosed with a chronically debilitating illness and am undergoing treatment similar to cancer/radiation therapy that makes it nearly impossible to perform athletically. I wanted to compete to represent that your score does not matter, that anyone can do the Open, and should do it to fight the good fight. No matter your age, ability, limitation, or experience, you can try. You can try, even if you can't finish the workout, or don't score a single valid rep, you can show up to fight. This is what we do. We fight disease, depression, mediocrity, death, and hopelessness. Life, and the challenges it presents us, are an ongoing battle, but giving it all we've got leaves an important legacy for the generations that will follow us. This is war, and I may have no ammunition, strength, or gas in the tank, but I'm on the front lines with my fellow soldiers.
