I Began my fitness journey about 15 years ago (high school) when I realized I needed to do something about my weight and health. After following an infomercial fitness program I fell in love with fitness. I lost over 20lbs and I even started teaching fitness to seniors in a small retirement home. Years later I’d be teaching in various gyms and even in front of hundreds of people. Even becoming a personal trainer and coach.
Being a coach and a trainer wasn’t all I just wanted. I wanted more. I wanted to compete so I did a few triathlons and marathons and realized that endurance fitted me really well.
However, being stagnant has never been the definition of fitness so I knew I needed more. Thus, I got into obstacle course racing. Where I needed to run long distance and carry heavy objects up and down mountains while still being able to climb complex obstacles. That’s when I met Crossfit on YouTube. I literally Saw a video of Annie Thorisdottir compete and win the games and she inspired me to up my training and get into the sport of Crossfit.
Years later and Almost two years ago (2015) I finally stepped into a box. Training there daily and being guided by incredible coaches...Crossfit Select has become my home away from home. These on and off 2 years doing Crossfit has been incredible. I feel stronger, Faster and overall fitter than ever before.
I strongly feel that after joining Crossfit I’ve been able to make it to compete and represent Canada in world championship competitions for OCR (obstacle course racing).
But I know this is a long life journey and I cannot wait to see what more there’s to explore.
