Jeffrey P. Christy, M.D.
I am a Cardiothoracic Surgeon from Springfield, IL where I have been in practice for the past 27 years. A typical day for me includes an early morning workout followed by a 6-hour open-heart surgery, seeing patients in the hospital, and then to my home gym for Crossfit training. I rarely schedule a rest day because I never know when I may be up all night performing emergency surgery and be forced to miss a workout. My whole career has prepared me for Crossfit - the unknown and unknowable!
In my "spare time," I also like to ice climb, rock climb, ski (both on water and in snow), and move my 3 children back and forth across the country.
I started in CrossFit 7 years ago when my daughter Jessica introduced me to the work outs and fitness level of CrossFit athletes. I became more and more involved in the sport and started to develop a home gym in my garage. I was inspired to continue to improve my weaknesses in the sport. I qualified for the masters online qualifier in 2017 and went to local CrossFit affiliate, CrossFit XLT, and fell in love with that CrossFit community!
I qualified for The Games in 2018 and was truly inspired by the tremendous athletes in the age groups. One of the highlights of competing at The Games was being able to develop great friendships with the other competitors, which continue today.
I am truly looking forward to live, in-person competition after the delays due to the pandemic. I am humbled by the tremendous support of the CrossFit Community at XLT and continue to try to better myself every day.
