I am the 41 year old father of a beautiful, autistic, 7 year old boy. Two years ago, I weighed in at almost 350 pounds and could barely move in any athletic capacity... My inability to keep up with my son and to envision a future that had me keeping up with him when he was a teenager and I am in my fifties...well, that was motivation to get me moving in the right direction. I compete because the competition is so incredibly challenging. I compete because it is an unbelievable way to benchmark my accomplishments while reminding me I still have so much more that I want to accomplish. I compete because I can and because I owe it to my son to push myself as hard as I can to be there for him today, tomorrow and for as far into the future as possible.
