I am pastor/teacher on a church staff of twelve that needs an outlet. Working in my line of work which includes heavy counseling, teaching, and traveling requires me to be in top shape and to exercise some level of sanity. CrossFit meets those needs. There is something about experiencing oxygen deprivation and muscular fatigue after doing 84 thrusters and 84 burpees that keeps one grounded, humble, and staring up at the ceiling, knowing all ego went out the door when bested by a barbell. Humility keeps one in the real world and trusting in an all powerful God. I wish I could put more time into it, but I am thankful for the coaching received and workouts I can attend. I used to wrestle in high school and lifted weights on a regular basis so CrossFit meets the desire for a good anaerobic work out with the benefit of strength training through heavy lifting. I am looking forward to the open even though I always get my butt kicked with the crazy workouts concocted in the diabolical gym/lab of Dave Castro.
