I competed in the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games and had a blast! On 8/23/11, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had surgery, radiation and finished chemotherapy on 1/19/12, which gave me a month to get ready for the 2012 Open. I felt good enough to begin training on 1/31/12. I had an uphill battle but I was excited to begin the journey of showing cancer that it cannot hold me down for long. I did not make the 2012 Games. “The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me or nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit, it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much can you take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!” - Rocky Balboah. I competed in the Open in 2013, 2014 , 2015 and 2016 and came up short of the Games. Here's to lucky number 7!
