I am a son, brother, husband, father, police officer, and an athlete. I compete because of the love of competition; however, there is another reason/necessity for me to compete do to my profession. I need to have “mind control” aka be mental tough. What competing has taught me is to stop feeling sorry for myself when things don’t go my way. It taught me that weakness doesn’t get a vote, laziness doesn’t get a vote, sadness, frustration, and negativity doesn’t get a vote. It taught me the importance of discipline and hard work. It taught me to face my fears. It has taught me to enjoy the struggle, that daily grind, to fight, scratch and dig in for the things that matter. Made me realize that I never want to reach a point in my life where I say “that’s it, I have done enough, I am not going to give any more, I am not going to push anymore.” No, the day to day challenges is what inspires me to drive to push myself to be better, to be a better police man, to be a better teammate, to be a better husband, father, and son. It taught me to never be satisfied with what I have done. This is why I compete!
