I'm a prof. for game design at Uppsala University / life coach, writer and public speaker, living on Gotland. Started crossfit 3 years ago while still living in Chicago, because I felt a lack of agency in my life. Wanted to have something tangible to work towards instead of waiting for uncertain outcomes regarding job decisions. Wanted to walk right out of the box again first time I saw people do snatches. Couldn't do a single pull up or toes to bar. Jumped on a tiny shoe box during box jumps. Felt SO out of my depth. Kept at it. Got better. Beginner's mindset. Growth mindset. Sustained a serious back injury. Had surgery. 3 months of physical therapy /recovery. one goal only: get back to crossfit. Did it. Can do pull ups and toes to bar and jump on a box ;) Progress is possible. Drive, community, humor are magic.
