Level 1, Level 2. On line courses: Lesson Planning, Spot the Flaw, Scaling, Judges, CrossFit Specialty Courses: Rowing (Erg) and Mobility Certification, You could say CrossFit and it's benefits spoke to me through my kids; as one of my daughters introduced me in 2010 to CrossFit. My love affair was complete as I even made it to the CrossFit Games in California the following year 2011! This competition marked the first 55+ age group bracket, as well as, the first internet accessible Games. Unfortunately, mature athletes back then were delegated to the parking lot. Fast forward ten years and we seniors have moved to the main arena! My first years were spent at an affiliate gym in Boise, Idaho. In 2016 three of us Boise seniors decided to open a CrossFit gym called Arduous CrossFit. We wanted to train when we wanted, with whom we wanted and be coached by whom we wanted. Old people can sure be fussy! It was a great adventure but that ended with the pandemic. Our garage gym specialized in Masters athletes, who were no longer able to participate in group activities. We regretfully closed down our affiliate in 2020 and renamed our little place, Fitness 20-26. My gym partner Jim G. and I continue to move forward with our training regimen. We train remotely with CompTrain. Day in and out, in our little garage gym, we push each other! Some sessions are more difficult than others...but most days are rewarding and worthwhile. I was not going to participate in the Open this year, knowing it would be difficult competing with those youthful 60 yr olds! I believe that CrossFit years are like dog years; each year equaling seven in the real world. When CrossFit announced there would be a 65+ group this year; Jim and I felt like this old dog had another life in her. It has been a great experience making it back to the limelight after a ten year hiatus. As Jim say's "It has taken 10 years to become an overnight sensation. I say God put me where I was supposed to be..
