In April 2012 I weighed 344lbs, was on medication for depression and high blood pressure, and I was miserable as a prisoner of my body and mind. I met with a nutritionist who started to change my eating habits, and met with a personal trainer at a health and wellness center who introduced me to paleo. My trainer inspired me to continue training and I became a trainer myself to educate myself and pass on tools to others to allow them to take charge of their life. In August I started crossfit at about 270lbs and fell in love. I have gained more confidence and strength than I ever thought I could have. Since April I have lost ~170lbs, came off all my medications, completed 5 mud runs, run 2 5ks, competed in 3 crossfit competitions, started training with 2 olympic lifting coaches, plan to run the Broad Street Run, and plan to start competing in the olympic lifts.
