I started CrossFit in April 2012. My sister encouraged me to join a local affiliate (CrossFit Bellevue) she said I would probably enjoy it. I enrolled in fundamentals with my girl friend (Now wife) and I weighed 205 pounds (WOW!) and we started to learn all the movements together. I could barely do a pull-up and never experienced olympic lifting or gymnastics or anything crossfit it was all new to me. I started to really love the challenge and entered into the 2013, 2014, and 2015 Opens and improved dramatically over the years. Several coaches contributed to my success during this process they were awesome. Then in July of 2015 I tore my Psoas muscle (Core muscle) accidentally which required 18 months of rehab. I honestly never thought I would be-able to workout again it was awful. Luckily my body healed without surgery and I started over Jan 1st 2017. The mental challenge of having to start over was really hard but now I'm excited about getting back into the Open and it has motivated me to try and get fit again! I built my own CF gym at my house and that has given me the opportunity to focus on technique and get workouts in during my busy weekly schedules. I like to participate in crossfit for nothing more than having fun, learning new ways to get fit, staying social with family and friends, and keeping myself humble. My goal is to be a healthy old man one day and this experience helps me work towards that goal. Crossfit also helps me stay fit in preparation for my favorite hobbies such as yard work, home remodel projects, snowboarding, riding ATV's, cycling, paintballing, running, playing basketball, football, and baseball. I also like to go out into the woods to hike, fish, go camping and chop trails up at my parents house in the mountains.
