I was born competitive. I love the feeling of accomplishment I get from doing hard things physically. I ran 14 marathons and ultras before finding Crossfit but this sport has allowed me to see strength I never knew possible. March 14, 2018 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor the same day I received my L1 certificate in the mail. I had brain surgery on Good Friday and Easter Sunday I woke up unable to feel my right leg and with extreme weakness on the rest of my right side. By God's grace I relearned to walk after a LOT of therapy (inpatient and out). My professionals stated CrossFit not only saved my life but is part of the reason I’m not still on a walker! I’ve since sustained 2 other brain injuries which have made life challenging but so glad to now be part of the adaptive community. When SO much of my life has been out of my control, Crossfit has given me an outlet. I had the INCREDIBLE honor of being one of the inaugural 2021 adaptive CrossFit Games athletes & am hard at work to hopefully earn a spot back in 2022! I’m a proud wife to Roger for 30 years & mom to 2 adult kids (Layla & Zakary) and a beautiful daughter in law (Nikita) as well as a new grandma to Sutton born December 2020 ❤️
