I am just a guy who has a love for pushing my limits and doing the best I can no matter what the situation is. I love Crossfit because as an athlete I have played different sports and have been apart of many teams, but nothing has made me feel the way Crossfit does. You are the ONLY one who can push yourself to finish the WOD. And when you do there is this overwhelming feeling of accomplishment. Crossfitters push their limits to the a point most won't or don't want to be at. That's where we as Crossfitters strive! Knowing you crushed another workout and that tomorrows a new challenge! My Box had contacted me with some great questions which I think will sum it up, the answers are in regards to Seward Crossfit (my home box) and Crossfit overall in general.... -----Why did you join Seaward Fitness/Crossfit? I started Crossfit at Seaward because I noticed a huge difference with the atmosphere here than with other facilities. The coaches at Seaward truly care about your progress and helping you achieve your goals. They take the time to really get to know you on a deeper level than just a member who comes in. They really want to see you improve and excel with every class. Coaches check in with you to see if there is anything you would like to specifically focus on during a class or in open gym hrs, and also to see how things in the gym and outside in everyday life are going. Knowing how to modify to progress is huge, especially when it comes to someone new to Crossfit or training in general. The knowledge coaches here have is very impressive, and it shows in my own progressions through their help and I see it in others who just started or have been members for a while. They will never overlook anyone from beginner to veteran, even with a veteran crossfitter they will take time to breakdown movements and take video to show in live time things you can work on to improve your movement in a safe and efficient manner. Safety is always key here, they rather see you modify a workout then to power through and end up with an injury that will prevent your from working out and enjoying life. The members of Seaward are just as amazing! They always motivate and cheer you on through every workout and for every accomplishment you make. There is such a great community at Seaward where everyone from all ages and abilities come to workout and push each other to hit new milestones. You will feel welcome whether its your first class or your 100th class. I have a specific goal in mind... even at my age I want to be able to enter and compete in some form of Crossfit competition, I know that Seaward will provide me the tools to do so, they always do their part! I just have to make sure to do mine! -----What's been your biggest accomplishment? I feel that my biggest accomplishment has been sticking with the routine and form of exercise I love. Crossfit is something I have become very passionate about even before making it a regular thing. I have always trained hard and lifted heavy, and had amazing cardiac and muscular endurance. After years out of the game it was tough at first, coming from being an elite athlete never feeling worn down, broken, or tired, to feeling defeated after my first workout almost not able to even complete it, wondering what happened to myself? Asking how did I let myself go this bad? Sports and exercise has always been apart of me and has helped keep me focused, motivated, and most importantly happy. Just after the first 2 weeks I noticed a huge improvement, I can complete full workouts and have been making significant improvements in strength and endurance. Work outs are still tough, but not defeating. It now feels even more fun than before and more rewarding than ever! ------What are you working on now? Right now I am focused on building back up my strength and endurance up to an elite level that would allow me to compete, or at least qualify for a Crossfit sanctioned event. Whether it be head to head with the pros or against everyday Joe's like myself. I have always been every competitive and strive to viewed as one of the best if not the best. Competing gives you a feeling like no other, a rush that nothing else ever has. Knowing it will take significant sacrifice, blood, sweat, tears, time (most important, knowing nothing happens overnight), I strive to progress and represent the box I am apart of. ------What's your favorite Seaward Fitness memory? I think my best Seaward memory is my first actual class as a member, not my trial class. Knowing this was taking a step in the right direction to achieve what I want. To become fitter, better, more confident. It's stands out to me because the first class and a few there after I couldn't make it through a class without being sick to my stomach almost not being able to finish the full workout, and now I have gotten over that. And it stems back to that first class, knowing this is hard as hell but with time I will be where I want to be and that this facility will get me there. -----What motivates you to continue training at Seaward Fitness? Seeing my progressions and knowing where I want to be and achieve is a huge motivating factor. Also allowing me to workout with those who are more knowledgeable and physically capable than I am makes me push even harder. I love to learn and be pushed by others. The community of Seaward and of Crossfit in general is so strong. I am proud to be apart of the Crossfit nation that spans the globe! No matter where you come from and where you're at with your fitness journey Crossfitters always support one another!
