Men’s Lower Extremity

Thirty-year-old Ole Kristian Antonsen sat atop of the leaderboard going into Day 2 and after two more events is still on top. Following two first-place finishes on Day 1, Antonsen kicked off Day 2 with his third event win. He made quick work of his 168-foot handstand walk and pulled away from the rest of the pack for the Event 4 win. Antonsen’s third-place finish in Event 5 was good enough to keep him not only in the lead but 50 points ahead of second place.

Event 5 was a tight race between 25-year-old Séraphin Périer and 28-year-old Felipe Maturana Infante. Périer played water polo at the national level before finding CrossFit and it showed. He looked comfortable in the water throughout the 300-meter swim. But Infante looked just as comfortable as the two competitors raced to the finish. Périer and Infante tied for first in the event with a time of 4:40.00.

Day 2 Men’s Lower Extremity Standings

  1. Ole Kristian Antonsen (410)
  2. Séraphin Périer (360)
  3. Felipe Maturana Infante (320)
  4. Elliot Young (260)

Women's Lower Extremity

Valerie Cohen was three for three in event wins going into Day 2. Cohen continued her dominance and picked up her fourth event win in Event 4. She was the only woman to finish under the time cap and picked up another 100 points. While the rest of the field faced an insurmountable obstacle in the handstand walk, every single competitor remained relentless and kept fighting until the final buzzer sounded.

Event 5 in this division was the definition of a tight race. All five competitors finished the 300-meter swim within less than one minute of each other, and it came down to just seconds between first and third place.

1. Natalie Bieule — 6:43.00

2. Beth Tannatt — 6:44.00

3. Valerie Cohen — 6:45.00

Men’s Upper Extremity

Casey Acree kicked off Day 2 with his third event win. Acree put some distance between himself and the rest of the field early on and made quick work of his overhead lunges. The battle for second and third was between 22-year-old Josue Maldonado and 29-year-old Xabier Osa Mendes. Osa Mendes started to pull away on the final length of overhead walking lunges but had to break just before the finish line, allowing Maldonado to take second place by just five seconds.

Acree and Maldonado went back and forth in Event 5, but Acree edged out Maldonado by just 18 hundredths of a second and took his fourth event win. After two days of competition, Acree is sitting atop the leaderboard, 50 points up over Maldonado.

Quinn held off Day 1 leader Sabrina Daniela Lopez by just five seconds to take the event win and 100 more points to close out Day 2, but Lopez remains in the overall lead heading into Day 3.

She shared in an interview following the event that chippers are her favorite style of workout. Cardio is her strength, and in Event 4, it showed.

In Event 5, Du Plessis took her second event win. Her water polo background likely also helped her cruise to victory as she completed her 300-meter swim in 4:41.00 — the fastest time across all the women’s adaptive divisions.
