The 2018 CrossFit Team Series will be underway in less than a month. We’ve compiled some information to help you through the process of finding a teammate, registering your team, completing the workouts and submitting your scores.
Have you found a teammate yet? If not, it’s time. The competition kicks off Sept. 19, when the first set of workouts will be released.
Getting Started
Step 1 is choosing a teammate. The Team Series allows female/female pairs, male/male pairs or mixed-gender pairs to compete, so invite your sister, brother, friend, significant other, co-worker, mom, dad—the list goes on—to participate in CrossFit’s all-inclusive offseason competition.
Once you have your teammate, it’s time to register. Head over to the CrossFit Games website to get started. Registration goes like this: Team Managers will log on, create a team and pay US$40. When they're done, they'll get a unique link to invite their teammate to join their team. The second athlete then follows the unique link to join the team.
Tag the CrossFit Games and use the hashtag #TeamSeries18 on social media to announce your partnership to the community!
Completing the Workouts
Two sets of partner workouts will be released via live announcements on the CrossFit Games website on Wednesday, Sept. 19, and Wednesday, Sept. 26. In Week 1, pairs will have until Monday, Sept. 24, to complete the workouts and submit their scores. The deadline for Week 2 will be Monday, Oct. 1. This means pairs have five days to complete the workouts once they are released.
Athletes have two options to complete the workouts: with a judge at a licensed CrossFit affiliate in good standing or with a judge outside of an affiliate. If teams choose the latter, they must videotape their efforts.
Teams need to perform the workouts in front of judges no matter how they complete the workouts. Judges are responsible for enforcing the movement standards and confirming team scores.
Submitting Your Scores
If you performed the workouts at an affiliate, head over to games.crossfit.com/teamseries to submit your scores and enter your judge’s information before each week’s deadline.
If you are submitting video, please note that it is the sole responsibility of the Team Manager to ensure the timely and successful submission of videos for each Team Series workout. Video submissions can be submitted at games.crossfit.com/teamseries as well.
CrossFit will release video submission standards for each workout. These video submission standards must be followed exactly. Submissions that are incomplete will not be accepted.
Any team whose video submission may be delayed due to issues with uploading videos must send an email to teamseriessupport@crossfit.com notifying Team Series Support staff of any difficulties. Team Series Support staff must receive this email notification PRIOR to the submission deadline.
Any request for assistance or notification of a problem received after the deadline will not be reviewed. Once the workout score submission window closes at 5 p.m. PT on Monday, teams will not be able to adjust or re-submit scores.
Validating Scores
In order to validate scores, the affiliate must have a designated Affiliate Manager. Affiliate Managers must pass the Online Judges Course available at https://oc.CrossFit.com, commit to upholding the standards and spirit of the event, and assert they have the equipment, facility and judges required to administer the workout.
Affiliate Managers from the Open will remain Affiliate Managers during the Team Series. Once the Monday score submission deadline has passed, Affiliate Managers will have 48 hours, until Wednesday at 5 p.m. PT, to validate Team Series scores for workouts performed at their affiliate.
Grab a partner and get ready. The 2018 CrossFit Team Series is going to be a fun one.
