On May 26, 2022, we put out a call for applications for our new Divisional Athlete Committees, and the call to action was answered in a big way. We were excited to receive applications from a staggering number of people in the CrossFit community who are passionate about taking our sport to the next level.

As we noted in the Hopper in January, we’re committed to engaging in substantive dialogue while also building systems that allow more people to have a seat at the table and be part of the tough but constructive conversations on how to keep our sport growing in the right direction. Together, the goal is to create better opportunities for athletes and event organizers while also showing value to the affiliates they come from. The DAC plays an important role in this process.

The goal of the committees is to create a direct line of communication to the Sport leadership team so athletes can share ideas, hopes, frustrations, values, and suggestions on how to improve not only the CrossFit Games but the whole competitive season.

Our five DAC committees are made up of a highly diverse group of people from all over the world. Participants on the committees represent various competition levels, divisions, backgrounds, ethnicities, ages, and ideas.

We had our first meeting this week, and our initial focus was on taking a broad look at the 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games.

After the meeting, DAC representative and CrossFit Game athlete Saxon Panchik said, “I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the DAC. CrossFit has been a part of my life for 14 years, and to now have the ability to help shape the future is incredible.”

Fellow DAC rep and Games athlete Jen Dieter said, “We had an exciting kickoff week for the DAC! I'm thrilled to be a part of an organization that values the voice of the athletes that are current or previous participants in the sport. I'm sure we'll be hitting many topics, and already there are so many great ideas floating around from our members.”

Panchik added, “After our first meeting I knew that we will make the future of the sport better and better each and every year. I’m super excited for what’s in store for the future.”

Following the Games, our eyes will be set forward and focused on the 2023 season and beyond.

“I look forward to getting to see many of the members in Madison in just over a week (while taking notes, of course)!” Dieter said. “Then it's time to start with feedback and planning for 2023!”
