Charis Chan Receives 4-Year Ban

Charis Chan has received a 4-year ban from competing in any CrossFit-sanctioned competition due to a positive drug test at the 2015 USA Weightlifting America Open Championships. Chan's sample tested positive for epitrenbolone, which is a metabolite of trenbolone. Trenbolone and its metabolites are in the class of anabolic agents and are prohibited for CrossFit athletes. Chan's sanction is retroactive to April 1, 2016, when she was provisionally suspended by CrossFit upon news of her failed test. Chan's scores from the 2016 Open have been invalidated and she will not be eligible to compete in any CrossFit-sanctioned competition until April 2, 2020.
