Seasoned Games Athletes Invited to Mentor Teenagers in 2024
February 21, 2024
On Feb. 20, 2024, Pit Teen Throwdown announced the start of a mentor program for teens competing at the 2024 Teenage CrossFit Games.
“2024 Teenage CrossFit Games athletes: Prepare to climb on top of some shoulders.
“Pit Teen Throwdowns and the Professional Fitness Athletes’ Association (PFAA) are calling a few good giants to offer their shoulders to 120 teenagers for the 2024 CrossFit Games summer season by serving in our newly developed mentor program,” Pit Teen Throwdown wrote on Instagram.
These seasoned Games athletes will mentor the 2024 CrossFit Games teen athletes virtually for about 13 hours over 10 weeks from June 16-Aug. 18. Mentors will guide six to eight athletes, “offering advice, movement and workout evaluations, and more.”
Mentors with availability may also attend the Teenage CrossFit Games — from Aug. 30-Sept. 1 — to continue to serve as an important resource for competitors. They will be set up in the athlete recovery and athlete warm-up areas.
“Launching a mentor program for Teenage CrossFit Games athletes is huge,” said head coach and executive director of Pit Teen Throwdown Brock Yost. “The program will provide athletes with plenty of learning and leadership opportunities as well as the chance to lean on some pros with high-level experience in the CrossFit Games.”
Heather Lawrence-Benedict, Senior Director of Sport Operations at CrossFit HQ, agreed. “The mentor program is an incredible opportunity for Games athletes to support the next generation of talent while passing along the lessons learned through competing at the highest level. This is a great example of bringing top athletes in our community together to make the sport better.”
Games athletes interested in joining the mentor program may contact Adam Paulsen, 2024 Teenage CrossFit Games Athlete Development Coordinator, at ajpaulsen82@gmail.com, and/or fill out this application.
