Miranda Oldroyd takes first on Event 1 at the NorCal Regional with a blazing 6:13 on Jackie. Oldroyd overcame a broken neck less than a year ago and has come back strong, ready to claim her spot on the podium.
Ashley Carriveau, first place in NorCal after Day 1, talks about having to sit out in 2012 due to being diagnosed with cervical cancer. Donning a "Fuck cancer" T-shirt on the first day of competition, Carriveau is focused on enjoying life, having fun and working hard at CrossFit.

Marcus Filly, of CrossFit Mill Valley, is currently in fifth place. The relatively unknown athlete, who has competed formerly with the TJ's Gym team, had a great first day. He said his first year as an individual, so far, has been a success.
CrossFit 808 currently sits in first place at the NorCal Regional. The team is hungry for a trip to the Games after a disqualification last year, and it looks like they'll be getting it. Here, Ben Hollingshaus catches up with the women of the team.
NorCal Regional competitors Ashley Carriveau and Annie Sakamoto were neck-and-neck on the walking lunges at the end of Event 6. Carriveau barely edged out Sakamoto for a first-place finish on the event.
CrossFit Diablo dominated the NorCal Regional and is sending a team and two women to the 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games. One of those women is Margaux Alvarez, who is making her first trip to the Games as an individual athlete.
