How I Eat
I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount
I eat to the point of discomfort at every meal. Lots of protein and fat from a variety of animal sources and lots of carbs mainly from sweet/white potatoes. I use dairy to help top up my calorie intake. I use supplements pre and post workout.
How I Train
I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate
I write my own programming
I record my workouts
I followed the Outlaw Way for a few months post regionals this year and rate the program highly if you can keep up with the workload. I got burned out mentally after a few months and felt like my home/work/training life needed a better balance. Currently (and for the last few months) I have been training Mon-Tue-Thur-Fri. On these days I train strength both morning and afternoon and either do a short metcon morning and afternoon or a longer single metcon in the afternoon. I train lots of strict and weighted bodyweight movement and olympic lift in some way or another most days. I would say that most of my training is low volume high intensity which helps me to handle the workload more effectively. I rarely do bench mark WOD's.
My Athletic Background
I have no athletic background besides CrossFit
My training prior to CrossFit was through the military as a physical training instructor. Lots of bodybuilding derived weight training and a lot of pull-ups and push-ups. Thankfully there was the odd functional movement in there as well. My conditioning was mainly through circuits and running.
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit by trying it alone (without a coach)
I have completed the CrossFit Level 1 certificate course
I have attended one or more specialty courses
I have had a life changing experience due to CrossFit
I train other people
My Work/Rest Schedule
I do multiple workouts in a day 3+ times a week
I typically rest 4 or more days per month
Mostly my training is Mon-Tue-Thur-Fri. I olympic lift in the morning followed by some strength work and maybe some short (sub 8 min) conditioning. I squat twice a week, do pendlay rows and bench press every week, weighted strict pull-ups twice a week, deadlift once a week, heavy push-press once a week and sprinkle in conditioning based on intuition. Most of my conditioning is interval work which allows me to create a skill focus. I set specific goals within my conditioning based on quality of movement or unbroken sets etc.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I found CrossFit in 2007 and dabbled with it for a while before converting entirely in 2008.
