"I like absolutely everything about CrossFit, but if I had to pick one aspect, it would definitely be its people."
“I wait for every Wednesday evening, 8 p.m., local Peru time, like if it was New Year’s so I can find out the new WOD,” Ana Rosa Galvez says.

The 36-year-old jeweler started CrossFit seven months ago. She was a usual at the globo-gym but before finding CrossFit. Galvez says she enjoyed riding bikes, going to the movies and reading, but “also aspire to always be healthy, have a proper lifestyle, and be in good physical and mental shape way into old age.”

After one month of CrossFit, she signed up for a local competition and took 4th place in the beginner category, sparking a competitive drive. Galvez now works out five times a week. She says she feels a lot healthier and ready for anything.
Galvez has already lost more than 15 pounds since joining Reebok CrossFit Peru, and says she feels “mentally fearless thanks to CrossFit. I wouldn’t even dream of going back to a globo gym. It would just be too boring.”

Now, she is signed up for the CrossFit Games Open and is getting used to a completely different kind of competition. “These past two Open Workouts have crushed me, but there are a lot of good female athletes competing and that motivates me to make a bigger and bigger effort,” she says. “I have given everything within me, and I have exceeded my own expectations as a result of it”.

Galvez isn’t focused on making it to the Latin America Regional – at least not in 2012 – but plans to train hard and compete in local competitions throughout the year in preparation for the 2013 Open.

In Open Workout 12.2, Galvez, who went into the workout with a max snatch of 70 pounds, complete 12 reps at the 75-pound weight. “WODs are hard but fun, I never get bored,” Galvez says. “I like absolutely everything about CrossFit, but if I had to pick one aspect, it would definitely be its people, people that will cheer you on at all times so you will improve, regardless if you are competing against them or not."
