My name is Denise, I compete to prove that I can attempt anything and that is simply how achievements are done. I am not the fastest nor strongest most experienced athlete but I am willing to fight through my weaknesses and fears. Regardless of whether I finish slow, whether I fail a workout or even if I finish fast and exceed my expectations, I will forever be able to tell myself "I did it; I faced the 2017 Crossfit Open", and it will absolutely be a fun experience I will never forget about. I am not competing to prove how much better I am compared to others, I am going to compete in the open to learn about myself. I am going to compete to know how far I am capable of putting myself, not only, through an uncomfortable position but to learn how long I can stay in that zone of pain. It is easy for anyone to flex in the mirror and measure progress but there is only one way to measure mental strength. I will measure my mental strength because with that, life challenges will only feel like life encounters.
