I am a Personal Trainer for just over 4 years now. I believe that fitness is definitely my calling. I love setting new goals and challenges for myself. I have completed 13 half marathons and have finished a full marathon, one of the hardest things I've ever done. To continue pushing myself from endurance training to resistance training I competed in 2 figure and 2 bikini competitions in 2011. Since then I have wanted to incorporate both disciplines and challenge myself even more. Enter CrossFit. I started in the fall of 2012 and have been hooked since my first workout which left me gasping for air and coughing for about half an hour while I tried to sign up for more. :) I accomplished my goals last year of entering a competition and had an amazing time at the two I did. I also got my L1. This year I plan on not only accomplishing some challenging athletic goals, but personal career ones as well as I'm working towards coaching and getting on the seminar staff :)
How I Eat
I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount
I have stopped measuring my food, knowing what my body needs and feeding it appropriately. My goal is to eat minimal processed foods and to incorporate as many fruits, vegetables, clean proteins into my diet with a planned cheat meal every few weeks and some baked goods to keep my sanity. :)
How I Train
I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate
I write my own programming
I record my workouts
I train CrossFit workouts with supplementary work on weaknesses about 5 days a week. I take a break when needed so the exact amount varies. I do some cardio and am constantly trying to incorporate more hot yoga into my schedule.
My Athletic Background
I played college sports
I was on a traveling acrobatic/cheerleading team through high school and college as a flyer. During this time I learned discipline, teamwork and the amazing feeling of accomplishing things i never believed I could.
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)
I started in October 2012 going twice a week to a local CrossFit box, knowing I would love it. After the open in 2013 I could no longer go "casually" and regularly went 5x a week. I have since switched affiliates for additional challenges and specialty classes and take my training seriously.
My Work/Rest Schedule
I do multiple workouts in a day 2x a week
I typically rest 4 or more days per month
My rest days vary in occurrence and type. Sometimes they are completely off, sometimes they are just a workout that is not weight related.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Definitely for me.
