I was in a motorcycle accident when I was 17. I broke both my legs, my right arm and had spinal damage that paralyzed my right side for several months. I hit the gym as a means of learning how to walk again, got hooked and found there was no turning back. The only problem I had was translating what I was doing in the gym to my real life. How were dumbbell curls and leg extensions really helping me do anything? Then while on course with the military in Gagetown....in walks Crossfit. It's movements were practical and kept me ready for anything and everything....sure I can't do some of the extreme weights because of the damage my body sustained when I was younger, but I'm going to push the movements I can do harder, faster and stronger than I would have ever known I could before. With it, I didn't just scrape by the fitness requirements, I excelled and made it on to every competition team we had (military skills, eco-challenges etc) and even was able to attend the International Nijmegen March in the Netherlands (4 days, 25 miles a day with a weight pack in combats).
