Athlete: Peter Bowler
How I Eat
I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount
We did a 30 day Paleo challenge in October last year. Since then I have eating as cleanly as I can. 95% reduction in Dairy/Grains/Legumes and I have been feeling very good for it. I sleep better, my gut likes me and my overall recovery from training is way better than it used to be.
How I Train
I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate
I regularly train five days per week at Crossfit Norwest. I have lifted my training to six days per week since early January in preparation for the Open
My Athletic Background
I played youth or high school level sports
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)
I started CrossFit in conjunction to working out at a local globo gym. I was overweight at 106kg and smoking about a pack a day. I started losing weight and when I decided I wanted to take my CrossFit experience to another level I had to stop smoking, find an affiliate closer to home and apply myself. Since then I have stopped smoking, lost 26kg and feel pretty good about myself as a result.
My Work/Rest Schedule
I usually only do 1 workout a day
I typically rest 4 or more days per month
having upped my training my rest is more special to me now. leading into the open I will be testing out some multiple work out days.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
The first twelve months I was going to a CrossFit Affiliate on Saturdays only. The affiliate is owned by the son of a friend of mine and is about an hours drive from home. When I knew I wanted to compete and so had to train more I migrated to CrossFit Norwest and have been there ever since April 2011.
