I started Crossfit 5 years ago after visiting Shoreline Crossfit in Branford, CT. My husband's sister and brother-in-law were avid crossfitters and they thought we would like it. We loved it and ended up joining Champlain Valley Crossfit back in May of 2011. It has been an incredible five years at CVCF. The community is super supportive and everyone is there for the same goal. Prior to that, I was a runner and participated in the Vermont City Marathon for the past 10 years. I ski raced in College for the Universtiy of New Hampshire and I have spent my entire life racing sailboats competitively. Crossfit along with sailing and skiing are sports I hope to continue to be able to do the rest of my life.
How I Eat
I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount
I have a set number of Macros I follow and track my food via MyFitnessPal which has helped with my training tremendously. It keeps me focused and on track. That's not to say I don't indulge in a cheat day now and then.
How I Train
I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate
I have a coach who determines my programming
Dani Horan provides my programming and has been super involved with my training prior to the 2016 Open.up to the Games. I train five days a week with active recovery on Thursdays and Sunday's. I try to get outside for a long time on Sunday's.
My Athletic Background
I played youth or high school level sports
I played college sports
I alpine ski raced for the University of New Hampshire and have also raced sailboats my entire life. I have been fortunate enough to win a gold medal at the Pan American Games in sailing in 1999 and I have also competed in a variety of North American Championships and a few World Championships in sailing.
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)
I have had a life changing experience due to CrossFit
There is no doubt Crossfit has changed my life. It has provided me with the ability to find the athlete inside me that wasn't there in college. I have realized that with.a lot of hard work, you really can achieve your goals.
