Found CrossFit while in Balad, Iraq - wanted to lose weight and P90X looked silly (can't exercise to a video when the guy looks like the host of Survivor; and I hate repetition, seeing people doing exercises improperly in the class watching the video, and it seemed so boring). I think my first class was Filthy Fifty. I only did 30 of each and even that was too much - I was limping ALL week, my calves were killing me. probably from jumping pullups and box jumps. Three years later I'm looking to challenge myself with stuff just out of reach (this is the year I'll get that muscle up and full handstand pushup). Isn't that the point of all this? Getting stronger, getting faster, reaching a goal and then setting new ones....
How I Eat
I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount
Went 95% gluten-free this summer. 1 cheat meal/week. After losing 10 lb I upped my calories and brought back a few desserts.
How I Train
I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate
I record my workouts
Crossfit Las Vegas is my home base. I travel to Ft Worth TX monthly, visiting GSX Athletics and Crossfit Seven. Added jogging to participate in a Ragnar and did my first 1/2 Marathon last December. Looking forward to more running events and obstacle courses.
My Athletic Background
I have no athletic background besides CrossFit
I was a fat school kid. And fluffy when I turned forty. No more!
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)
I have completed the CrossFit Level 1 certificate course
I started Crossfit in Balad AB in a regular class. Six months later came home & found Crossfit Las Vegas and coaches who fixed most of my bad habits.
My Work/Rest Schedule
I usually only do 1 workout a day
Up to 3-4 days in a row then 1 day rest (sometimes 2 if I have to work). Really started building my strength in 2012 and did Olift clinics 3-5 x/month. Added jogging one morning a week. If I don't have to work I like to do a double Metcon on Saturday..then long jog or a 2 hour bootcamp/obstacle course on Sunday morning with a Metcon or strength on Sunday afternoon.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Started middle of 2009.
