My name is Jeremy and I'm a 39 year old Sale Engineer of an IT company. I'm married and we have two small rescue dogs that we treat as our fur babies. I started Crossfit 2.5 years ago because I was 299.8lbs and I refused to see a 300lb number on the scale. Fast forward to about 65lbs lighter and I fell in love w/Crossfit. I first saw Crossfit on ESPN when they aired the Games and I decided right then and there that that was the thing for me. The comradery and sportsmanship that was displayed was exactly what I was looking for. Early in my journey I realized that I absolutely loved Crossfit and the weight loss and increased health became a bonus. Days that I miss doing Crossfit I feel like something isn't right. I love seeing things that I used to think were impossible not only become possible but have turned into my strengths over the months that I've worked at them. Recently I had some chest pains and was told I had pulmonary embolisms in my left lung. I was told that had it happened when I was almost 300lbs there was a good chance that I wouldn't be here now. I missed a grand total of a week of Crossfit and I couldn't wait to get back. Being active is the easiest way to be healthy and prolong your life and I'm living proof. Competing is a great way to push the limits of what you previously thought was possible. The level of competition you experience during the Open is second to none. In those five workouts you will find out more about yourself than you thought possible. The Crossfit community is some of the best people on the planet and the Open brings out the best in all of them. Why do I compete? I compete because I know I have yet to see the best I'm capable of but I know I will see glimpses of it during the Open.
