A former "Special Operations" officer for the United States Navy operating as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician with two tours in Iraq. Graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2001. A native of Pittsburgh, PA. I love almost all sports and active hobbies. I am planning on completing my first Ironman in September.
How I Eat
I eat 1-3 full cheat meals per week
I saw a great shirt that says "100% Paleo, 60% of the time". I occasionally enjoy a desert or some delicious bread. Ha!
How I Train
I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate
I write my own programming
I primarily workout using crossfit style programming, but I love cycling and playing soccer. And if the occasion arises to do outdoor activities, I jump at the chance to be outside.
My Athletic Background
I played youth or high school level sports
I played college sports
I played soccer for the United States Naval Academy as the goalkeeper and I also was a member of the track team as a Heptathlete and Pentathlete.
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)
I have completed the CrossFit Level 1 certificate course
I have attended one or more specialty courses
I have had a life changing experience due to CrossFit
I train other people
I have been playing sports, training and coaching for many years. I have tried many different training programs from isolated muscle group training to long slow distance to circuit training, and nothing has given me the fitness erupts and better overall well being then Crossfit training. I make it a point to share my testimony with anyone interested in getting fit and even those that are not in the hopes that it inspires them.
My Work/Rest Schedule
I do multiple workouts in a day 2x a week
I typically rest 4 or more days per month
While I try to follow a strict schedule, more than anything, I listen to my body. When it says it is time to rest, I rest or take it back a notch. And when I am feeling great, I go harder within the programming recommendations..
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
After about a year of my friend nagging me to give Crossfit a try, I finally drug myself to my local affiliate and committed myself to one month. It didn't even take a month for me to see and feel the results of changing fitness plans. A yearand a half later I am PR'ing on half Ironman's by 30 minutes with less training and a healthier, happier body to boot.
