How I Train

This past fall and spring I followed kayak-specific strength work programmed by my coach "Magic". During the off-season I'm all about CrossFit to build up baseline fitness.

My Athletic Background

6-time US National Kayak Team member from 2004- present. High school nordic ski racing. Marathon canoe racing. Currently a 200m sprinter on the US National Kayak Team.

My Experience With CrossFit

My kayak career was rife with nagging shoulder and back injuries. I started CrossFit in 2010 as an alternative strength and conditioning program leading up to the 2012 Olympic Trials. CrossFit was so fun that I put kayaking on the back burner, got my L1 and my USAW, started coaching, went to Regionals in 2013, and drank the kool aid for 2 years. It was delicious. Then in 2016 I decided to see if I could qualify for the Rio Olympics in kayaking. I didn't make it all the way to Rio, but I did win US Olympic Trials after less than 13 weeks back in the boat.

My Work/Rest Schedule

I do multiple workouts a day most days.
